Purchasing a home is a big investment but it will be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. From starting your initial home search, to getting the keys to your new home, I’m here to help and guide you through your home-buying journey. As a real estate broker with Compass, I’m committed to working with you in finding the perfect home. If “perfect” to you means brand new construction or it means vintage charm, I’ll partner with you to find a home you’ll love. Wondering what the process looks like? Here’s a brief outline of the steps you’ll need to take in order to buy a home. I’m here to guide you through each step!

Create Your Wish List
Write down what is important to you in a home. Consider everything from the number of bedrooms & bathrooms, how many levels, what style of home and which direction it faces. Factor in neighborhoods, schools, commute times, and proximity to amenities you enjoy.
Meet with a Mortgage Professional
I know this sounds obvious, but you need to determine how much you can actually afford. The best way is to meet with a mortgage professional early in your home search process so they can run the numbers. They’ll also discuss financing options and subsequently provide you with a pre-approval letter. When there is a competitive offer situation, you want to know exactly how much you can afford to offer and you want a current pre-approval letter in hand.

Begin Your Home Search
Let’s go shopping for homes! Based on your wish list and your budget, I’ll set up an online home search. Then we’ll narrow it down to the properties you want to see in person. Be patient as homes online often are not as they appear when you walk through the door! We may need to tour several homes until we find THE one!
Submit an Offer
You found THE one! Submitting an offer can be exhilarating mixed with a bit of anxiety. I’m here to help you submit the strongest and most strategic offer possible. I’ll be the voice of reason. I’ll negotiate and advocate on your behalf. If we have to write 10 offers to get a house, so be it.

Proceed to Escrow & Closing
Congratulations! Your offer was accepted. Before we celebrate, there’s a few more steps until we get to the finish line. This is the time when a great deal of behind-the-scenes communication is taking place between your lender, the escrow company, the listing agent, and me. We’re all working together to ensure your transaction moves along and gets closed on time.
